Taking back

Taking back
As I child I watched you walking down my street
I saw you knock on doors
Saw my neighbour’s defeat
I was a witness to a silent tragedy
No one noticed
No one else could see

A blind man walking
You knocked him off his feet
You took all his possessions
And showed him no mercy
And as you broke his will
You smiled and look straight at me
No one noticed
No one else could see

And I’m taking back all that you have stolen
I’m lifting up the hearts and lives
That you have broken
I am taking back
I am claiming victory
Not matter what you do
You have no power over me

There was a young girl dying
You took her she was three
I glimpsed her mother crying
By the mal-nurtured body
And as you broke her family’s hopes
You smiled and looked at me
No one noticed
No one else could see

I’m taking back all that you have stolen
I’m lifting up the hearts and lives
That you have broken
I’m taking back
I am claiming victory
No matter what you do
You have no power over me

Be gone
You do not belong here
There is something wrong here
You are not welcome

I’m taking back all that you have stolen
I’m lifting up the hearts and lives
That you have broken
I’m taking back
I am claiming victory
No matter what you do
You have no power over me
